Childcare Practitioner -Out of School Service

Primary Playcare Ltd is a private organisation providing Out of School Care to over 400 children across our Out of School Clubs in East Renfrewshire and Glasgow city centre. We are recruiting for a Childcare Practitioner to join one of our clubs with in East Renfrewshire (Giffnock). We are looking for applicants who are fun, outgoing personality, reliable and have a natural ability to engage effectively with primary school aged children. The hours of work will be:

Breakfast Club (7.30am - 9.00am) Monday to Friday

After School Club (2.30pm - 6.00pm) Monday to Friday

Term Time Only (25 hour per week)

Duties include:

• The safe drop off/collection of children at the beginning and end of the school day


• Engaging with the children during play and participating in activities


• Working with the children to plan fun, imaginative & interesting activities and to evaluate these activities afterwards


• Setting up the play area at the start of the session & clearing away at the end


• Preparing breakfast & afternoon snack for the children


• Building positive relationships with the children and their parents/carers


• Ensuring the children's safety at all times and supporting the children to manage risk in their play choices


• Key Worker responsibility for up to 20 children and completion of children's individual care plans


• Ensuring that the children voices are heard by listening to their views and giving them opportunities to contribute to the operations of the club


• Following the professional standards, policies and procedures as outlined by the Company, The Care Inspectorate and SSSC to ensure that a quality service is provided.
  
  Previous experience in a childcare setting (Early Years or Out of School Care) would be advantageous however we will also take on board your experience in the voluntary sector or personal background.


• Ideally you will hold an SVQ Level 3 in either Playwork/CCLD or HNC in Childcare, or willing to work towards a relevant qualification, Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
  
  £11.44 - £12.00 an hour - Permanent, Full-time, We are a Scottish Living Wage Accredited Employer. We also offer additional payment enhancement for Breakfast club hours.


• 29 days holiday each year (calculated pro-rata for employees working less than 5 days)


• Term-time only.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo PVG checks, be able to provide 2 references who will be able to vouch for your employment record and/or good character and be required to be registered with SSSC at Practitioner Level or register within 6 months of appointment to post.

Interviews will be held at our office in Busby (East Renfrewshire).
