Full Job Description

This is a hugely varied role where no 2 days are the same. If you thrive on variety, dealing with people, exploring problems through to solutions, supporting projects and users on a daily basis, as well as being an expert in a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool and process, then this could be a great opportunity.

Offering daily support on the PLM tool PALMA across all disciplines within the OME business across the UK. Working as part of the Configuration Management team you will be a highly valued and critical asset to the team, projects, functions and ad-hoc business initiatives.,

  • Good understanding of PALMA

  • Peer review training material, feeding back suggestions and test updates.

  • Deliver PALMA training in a variety of environments from face-to-face and remotely. Individual and Group training. This may include a classroom situation.

  • Customise training and delivery to different job roles. Providing tailored training for project users, across all of the LR levels.

  • Closely liaise with and support all disciplines in the use of PALMA. Including - Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Systems, Algorithms, Optical, Software/Firmware. Safety/Quality/Supportably Engineering (ILS)/Purchasing/Goods Receiving-Dispatch/Bid Management /Manufacturing Engineering.

  • Understand roles, permissions and responsibilities within PALMA, and the importance of ensuring the correct levels of permissions are set for restricted project containers. Setting up user permissions and roles within the PALMA containers.

  • Address common Issues 70%/New Issues 30%/Issues not commonly understood 10%.

  • Be a team player and support the Configuration Management team.

  • Monitoring the nature of queries from either functions or individuals in order to identify areas where process is not embedded and deliver targeted functional training to that function.

  • Expert in specific details of PALMA workflows and Unifi processes.

  • Current knowledge of PALMA bugs and workarounds.

  • Proactively seek/drive improvement opportunities within the business e.g. re-establish super users and ensure SU availability is maintained.

  • An understanding of how other business tools interface with PALMA (Oracle, SW, Cadence, Creo etc.)

    Good to have minimum 6 months hands-on experience in PALMA.

  • Be approachable, proactive, flexible, patient & understanding.

  • A curious mindset in constant search for areas of improvement, gaps, lessons learned, user experience with a view to feeding back to UK to seek beneficial changes.

  • Foster continuous improvement by having excellent communication skills, while working in a professional manner respecting others thoughts and advice. The ability to listen and understand user questions and follow through to resolution. (Directly or indirectly by knowing who to go to for assistance/advice).

  • A passion for supporting your team members in their roles using your expertise/contacts throughout the business, and all business users as a whole.

  • Embracing new/changes to processes and an encouraging a positive attitude in embedding processes throughout the business.

  • The ability to answer questions and not to be intimidated. Question the norm, providing solutions, not problems, and show examples of lessons learned.

  • Know your Internal Customers and their needs.

  • To be forward planning and have a methodical approach to future activities.

  • Strong organisational, prioritisation and time management skills.

  • Ability to analyse issues and understand trends.

  • Closely engage with stakeholders.

  • Ability to understand technical questions.

  • Show Initiative and act on issues, don't wait to be prompted.

  • Close attention to detail - The role is often interrogating issues with data, and promoting accurate data entry into various areas is mandatory.

  • Investing time in the development of others. Have a willingness to continually learn and develop as processes change, and encourage others to develop.

  • Awareness of MS Office Suite. (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

  • Ability to use MS Teams/Jabber for meetings, and for providing and receiving training.
