Full Job Description

St Aloysius’ College is one of the leading schools in Scotland, one of eleven Jesuit schools in Britain and over two thousand Jesuit schools and 900 universities worldwide. It has just over 750 pupils across Junior and Senior schools. Founded in the mid-nineteenth century, the College occupies several buildings both old and new, from the Italianate Chandlery Building (1866) to the Junior School (1998). A new spacious and secluded Kindergarten was opened in 2013, and in 2017, we opened our £8million state-of-the-art Sports Building. The most recent addition to our campus is our brand new Performing Arts Centre, which houses our music and drama departments. The members of the Governing Body bring exceptional experience from a wide range of professional backgrounds and from within the Jesuit community, and are consistently ambitious for the College’s continuing success and future development. Our Location The College is situated in the Garnethill area of Glasgow city centre, next to Glasgow School of Art and close to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Garnethill is home to three interrelated Jesuit works: the College, the parish of St Aloysius' and the Ignatian Spirituality Centre.

 

The Role

St Aloysius’ College is seeking an experienced and dedicated Early Learning Child Care Manager to oversee the operations of our nursery. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high-quality learning environment for children aged 3-5 years, ensuring a nurturing and stimulating setting that promotes their physical, emotional and cognitive development.

 

About the Person

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for early childhood education and a commitment to providing the highest standard of care for young children. They should possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team. Excellent communication and organisational abilities are essential, along with a nurturing and compassionate approach to working with children and families.

 

Essential Qualifications

Educated to HNC level in Early Education and Childcare or hold SNNB/ HNC/ SVQ3 qualifications in Childcare/Education or equivalent.

 

Meet the standards for SSSC registration for a Practitioner.

 

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role within an early learning or childcare setting, managing staff and resources.

 

Desirable

Qualifications: Hold or be working towards BA Childhood Practice, PDA,

Certificate/ Diploma in Early Childhood Studies or other relevant advanced

qualification.
