Full Job Description

Reporting to the Waste Operations Manager, the ETP Operative is responsible for processing wastewater through the effluent treatment plant in the most efficient manner possible. They will perform a range of activities including testing, routine checks, maintenance, and problem solving to ensure that services are delivered to time, cost and quality standards. This role will ensure adherence to Company procedures and that all statutory quality and safety polices and regulations are satisfied.

Responsibilities include to:

  • Safely and effectively monitor the operation of the process and conditions of the plant, making adjustments of controls.


  • Carry out first line maintenance lifting and unblocking pumps, equipment checks and greasing.


  • Ensure and maintain good housekeeping in and around the plant, equipment and buildings.


  • Draw samples and test as required ensuring the optimal running of all plant and equipment.


  • Record and document all process information and analysis results.


  • Ensure equipment and resources are used, maintained and replaced appropriately.


  • Provide an appropriate response to emergency situations whilst on shift.

    UK Driving Licence (or reliable alternative method of commute in absence of public transport)


  • Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours)

  • Good understanding of Health and Safety on hazardous waste site


  • Effective communication skills and ability to maintain positive working relationships


  • Client focus - able to present a positive company image through first class customer service delivery and customer engagement


  • Reliable and conscientious with the ability to adapt to changing situations


  • Ability to work under pressure and unsupervised


  • Desirable Qualifications/Competencies

  • Problem solving particularly in wastewater environment or similar process related industry


  • Computer literacy


  • Attention to detail


  • Forklift licence


  • Working at height certification


  • Experience in waste and dangerous chemicals handling


  • COSHH Awareness


  • DG Awareness


  • Oil Spill Awareness
