Full Job Description

As an expert in Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems you will be working alongside an eclectic team of space enthusiasts, all dedicated to solving space's most complex challenges.

Your expertise will be invaluable as you support the design and development of systems that will operate in Earth Orbit, Cislunar, and Deep Space across an exciting mix of scientific, commercial, and defence-based projects.

With unparalleled opportunities to fund new capabilities and technologies, you're in the right hands for a rewarding and fulfilling career.

Who will you be working for?
After 5-years of successful growth in Washington DC and Santa Fe, Rhea Space Activity is now looking to take things global. Their expansion into the UK in Edinburgh follows significant market opportunities in the area and presents an exciting opportunity to join a group in its infancy.

Their highly-skilled team has a combined 107 years of collective professional experience, focusing on projects that enable the autonomous navigation of spacecraft, gateways to Lunar intelligence and new opportunities for deep-space imaging.

Their science-first approach encourages employees to think outside of the box, providing an environment that will support and dedicate funding to further research and develop your ideas.

What will you be doing?
As their GNC Engineer, you will be at the centre of their autonomous spacecraft navigation requirements, providing expert in-house advice that will support Air and Missile System applications.

You can expect to provide technical expertise on theory to the design, modelling, and analysis of missile-related GNC systems and to assess weapon system performance. You'll use your GNC experience to develop, implement, and evaluate guidance algorithms, flight controls, navigation systems, and/or flight hardware for next-generation guided missiles to intercept advanced threats.

A key team player, you'll be working closely with their UK and US teams to propose and/or engage in internally-funded research and development projects to address performance gaps in weapon systems, and will be provided with ample opportunity to fund new capabilities and technologies, and secure funding through research and development contracts with the US and UK governments.

To thrive in this role, you will have:
High-quality experience in a similar role will help you hit the ground running. This will include direct experience in the development and analysis of GNC algorithms, with a working knowledge of guided missile design.

Experience developing software for analysis, real-time operating systems, and/or simulations is also a pre-requisite, with proficiency in C/C++ and Python preferred.

You'll need the abiity to travel within the continental United States and to various international destinations. You will also need to relocate to and work onsite in Edinburgh, Scotland.

It'd be nice if you also had:

  • Experience with missile system design, testing, and operations.
  • Experience with control systems, guidance algorithms, inertial navigation, state estimation, flight dynamics, aerodynamics, modelling and simulation of dynamic systems, hardware design, and/or robotics.
  • Experience performing systems engineering tasks such as requirements development and trade studies.
  • Experience throughout the full development lifecycle of a GNC subsystem on one or more aerospace programs.
  • Demonstrate technical team leadership skills.
  • Experience with DoD/IC/NASA operations or systems

What's in it for you?
In recognition of your hard work, you can expect an industry-leading salary of up to 75,000 per annum.

RSA offers an outsourced housekeeping service at your home, helping you maintain a clear living space. You'll also enjoy the perks of a 300 monthly credit for Uber Travel, plus an additional 100 for Uber Eats.

This role requires you to be local to their HQ in Edinburgh. To support this, they offer a full relocation service, reimbursing costs associated with relocating you and your loved ones.

In addition to all of this, you will also receive up to 10,000 a year in academic training towards a STEM skill/degree, helping you grow professionally as the company does.
