Role Description: Technical Writing Manager

We are looking for a self-motivated, proactive, and strategic thinking individual to lead the Information Products (technical writing & 3D design) team within our Shared Services group based at NCR Atleos, Discovery Centre in Dundee. This is a rare opportunity with responsibility for managing an existing team of hardware technical authors and 3D designers, to provide a consistent and timely delivery of technical publications and animations whilst driving the strategic direction of the department.

Key areas of responsibility:

Leadership:

• Business owner of application/sites/distribution list (for IT purposes).
• Guide department strategic direction including application of new tools & technologies, process improvements in publication development and publishing. 
• Decision maker of design for publications/template design/website. 

Team Management: Team based in Dundee & Cebu, Philippines

• Manage and mentor a team of technical authors and 3D designers, including hiring, training, performance evaluations and career development.
• Budget responsibility.

Project Management:

• Central point of contact for department for queries or input to new projects 
• Assigns team members to projects or tasks.
• Tracks project status 
• Maintains process documents.

Cross Functional Collaboration:

• Develop and maintain close cross functional relationships with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, Manufacturing and Services to ensure alignment of deliverables.

Required skills and experience:

• Minimum 8 years in an engineering, technical writing or technical customer service role.
• Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
• Have a sense of urgency with the ability to multi-task.
• Customer focus / user-centred design awareness.
• Systematic and methodical approach to problem solving.
• Product knowledge; NCR Atleos ATM product family and devices an advantage.
• Understanding of Product Lifecycle Management process and stakeholder roles. 

Desirable Skills:

• Team lead or people management experience.
• Technical communication tools such as: 
• Madcap Flare/Adobe Framemaker 
• PTC Creo or Solidworks 
• Corel Draw 
• Solidworks Composer
