Distance Lab is a research institute melding technology, design and the arts to transform communication, creativity and connectedness over a distance. The Lab is growing quickly and is now searching for a creative and energetic Head of Partner Relations and Business Development to lead on the Lab's relationships with members, clients, academic partners and key stakeholders, and to lead on the commercial activities of the Lab.

Specific duties will include:

• acting as the Relationship Manager for Lab sponsors, members, and clients, and developing and implementing models of membership and corporate relations

• overseeing the development and establishment of Distance Lab research nodes in other Highlands and Islands, Scottish and European locations

• managing the Lab's commercialisation activities and programmes, and working with partners and stakeholders, developing new models and programmes that ensure a commercialisation culture develops in the Lab.

• overseeing the operational activities of the Lab, and assisting the CEO in the development and implementation of marketing and communication plans and activities

• supporting the CEO in the creation and development of the Distance Lab culture, based on creativity, experimentation and display.

You will be a self-motivated out-of-the-box thinker with an enthusiastic can-do attitude. You must also embrace new technologies and be open to doing things differently than the rest of the world.

You should ideally have significant experience in marketing and business development, preferably in a research environment. A degree in a relevant subject area would be highly desirable. You should also have strong experience in project management, commercialisation of research, and working in partnerships with both private and public sector entities.

Excellent interpersonal skills are vital, along with the ability to effectively manage time and resources. Strong presentation, negotiation, and customer care skills are also important.
