Customer Service roles that give most satisfaction

Every job, no matter how enjoyable, has its downsides. And whether you work in customer service for a posh hotel or on the hotline of a washing powder brand, there will times when you will be challenged.

Customer_Service_1_SmallWe say, bring it on!

It’s only when you’re super at problem solving for people that you begin to experience the satisfaction of knowing you’re performing at your best.

On s1jobs there are customer service vacancies across many different sectors. But what they all have in common is they put you in the frontline when things go wrong.

If you can handle this without becoming stressed or taking customer complaints personally, you’ll have moved to the next level.

So what’s your idea of a challenging position? This will be different for everyone but there are some customer-facing roles that really do deliver the top satisfaction of a job well done.

Technical support

If you can take a complex issue and explain it in simple language to a customer who’s confused, pat yourself on the back. You have skills in demand with many employers. Sorting out technical issues for someone who is not tech-savvy can be incredibly rewarding.

Local authority

Dealing with housing issues or missed bin collections may not sound glamorous but it is vital to the wellbeing of people in towns and cities across the country. Some callers will be angry, others unreasonable and a few vulnerable. If you can deal fairly and effectively with whoever walks through the door or calls you on the phone, you will be doing invaluable work for your community.

Airline ground staff

Faced with a lengthy check-in queue, lots of over-sized luggage and a delay on take-off most people would wither. Not you! You’ve the patience and the people skills to get the job done and to defuse tensions when they threaten to take off into noisy complaints.

University student liaison

Dealing with over-excited Freshers is never going to be dull. Some will get lost, others lose their keys and lock themselves out of Halls of Residence. More will get through the front door then trigger the fire alarm, ending up with the entire block standing on the pavement at 2am wearing little more than a frown. This is where your firm-but-friendly nature and sense of humour will save the day.
