Department Background

The jobholder will work within SLB Finance Division as a member of the Financial Management team reporting to the Finance Manager. SLB Finance currently has around 45 members of staff split into 4 different departments – Financial Management, Financial Reporting, Financial Control and Financial Risk.

Role Objectives

SLB Finance has an opportunity for a qualified Accountant (or a part qualified accountant with 3+ years of relevant experience) to join the department on a permanent basis. As SLB continues to develop its business and the Group moves through a period of considerable change, the successful applicant will play a key role in the development and success of SLB.

Reporting to the Finance Manager

Job Challenges

As a Management Accountant you will be expected to:

  • Support the Business Planning and Forecasting Process and update and develop the Financial Forecasting model
  • Support the Product Development process with relevant accounting and profitability impact information
  • Maintain and Develop Net Interest Income Analysis outputs and prepare forecasts of interest income and balances
  • Provide input to the Group Finance Programme on behalf of SLB
  • Support the Finance Manager on ad hoc analysis

Technical Skills / Experience Required

Essential:

  • Qualified Accountant, likely to have up to 3 years PQE gained in a Financial services, ideally Mortgage Banking environment. A part qualified accountant with particularly relevant experience and demonstrable planning, modelling or treasury skills would be considered.
  • Experience of financial modelling using spreadsheets.
  • Positive approach to change and ability to work in an evolving, demanding and customer focused environment.
  • Positive approach to team working across the bank and group finance functions.
  • Highly PC literate, Excel, Essbase or similar packages.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisation skills coupled with ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Highly analytical and numerate mind.

Desirable:

  • Experience of Business Planning
  • Mortgage product accounting experience
  • Treasury account experience and understanding of financial instruments
  • IFRS knowledge, particularly IAS 39
