The 9th November 2007 was a momentous day for the city of Glasgow and the country of Scotland. On that day we won the race to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games - now the hard work begins. The 2014 Games will showcase our great city and country on a scale never experienced before, with a potential TV audience of two billion people. There will be new investment leading to transformation of the city including new sports facilities and an Athletes' Village on the banks of the river Clyde, inspiring people not just from Glasgow and Scotland but from across the
Commonwealth. To achieve this we need a team of dedicated professionals who can deliver key aspects of the Games to the highest level. The New Organising Committee (Glasgow 2014 Ltd) is now recruiting for our first group of senior posts following the appointment of a Chairman and Chief Executive. Have you got what it takes to be part of our winning team?
As the Director of Operations you will have overall responsibility for the direct and indirect delivery of all services to athletes and officials leading up to and during the Games including venues, village, transport and technology. This will be a central role in the delivery of the Games and will be at the heart of the G2014 organisation. You will develop and deliver an integrated operational planning process and will be required to develop a cross functional culture within the Organising Committee. A highly experienced professional, you will have held a senior position for at least five years in project management, major events operations or a related discipline. You will have a proven track record in managing staff and significant budgets. This is a challenging role and requires an individual who is able to engage teams and drive performance. Ideally you will have experience of working on large scale sporting or cultural events and working across a range of public, private and voluntary organisations.
