CLIENT – Britain's largest bus operators running more than one in five of all local bus services. Operating in UK, Ireland, Germany, Canada, USA and also in Denmark from 2009. This particular region has several divisions covering school bus routes, city and county public transport contracts and vehicle maintenance for many corporations, organisations and local government.

ROLE – Program Director – Resource Optimisation – reporting to Program Director this role is directly responsible for delivering the following:

•Review and improve North American property/space utilisation across company locations.
•Review and improve North American “dead head miles”
•Review and improve cost efficiency in fleet, property, maintenance and personnel.

Within the role you will be responsible for a team of 12 staff through 3 team leaders, covering all operating companies in US and Canada. Data collection will focus on whole of North America with the priority predominantly being the North East, Chicago, North West and California.

The role will involve a heavy travel Schedule and the role itself is a 6 – 9 month contract with the possibility of a permanent role based in the UK at the end of the contract. The Client will cover all travel and accommodation in US and monthly return trips home to UK if needed.

PERSON SPEC – HIGHER WEIGHT MORE IMPORTANT

10 – Director Level Candidate, i.e. maturity, gravitas, credibility, senior – level influence.
10 – Strong operational experience – delivery to KPI's – can be in any challenging service environment.
10 – Experience in Network Planning, and ideally, but not necessarily in passenger transport.
10 – Personality – influential, engaging, empowering, tenacious, resilient, mutlitasker and a complete finisher.
10 – Comfortable with financial/numerical modelling.
10 – Financial Acumen, and experience of managing large capital, heads and spend budgets
10 – Good conceptual thinker who can help develop decision models.
10 – Eye for detail, but doesn't loose the bigger picture.
10 – Willing to be based in USA for 6-9 months, and maybe “living out a suitcase” for much of the time.
9 – Experience in property management – space planning, refit and re locations, space optimisation, utilities management
9 – Maths or Finance graduate, with operations research experience.
9 – Strong program management experience, managing a variety of complex projects simultaneously.
