HEAD OF OPERATIONS - EMEA
Location: Glasgow

THE COMPANY
Our Client is a a global financial services organisation with a operations teams based in Glasgow and London are currently seeking a Head of Operations based in Glasgow.
EXPERIENCE
Person should be from a technical background and capable of understanding multiple disciplines within Operational support. The person should have experience of working for a large multinational company supporting mission critical Global applications, be up to date with current technologies and industry trends. Be able to report to senior management effectively and clearly and have experience of delivering excellent up time.
You will have overall management of the regional line of business, 24x7, Unix, Linux, Windows System Administrators (SA), and Oracle and Sybase Database Administrators (DBA) teams. The team size in total will be 20 resources based from Glasgow and London.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Management of UNIX/Linux, Database and Intel Server technology teams providing 24x7 support.
Developing standards and procedures working closely with Operate and technology groups to manage delivery and improve infrastructure and application up time.
Work closely with key Front Office teams to ensure Infrastructure readiness is understood and met Perform regular maintenance of the infrastructure Act as an escalation point for all Service Delivery issues Coordinate with vendors to restore service and identify root cause during critical outages
Provide service delivery status reports and metrics on Outages, System performance, team work profile and workload.
Lead and participate in initiatives to improve Resiliency and Capacity.
Create and communicate service delivery procedures and run books.
Assist and provide support for Infrastructure project initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
Ideally Degree Qualified
8 - 12 projects of IT work experience Strong technology background including Operating Systems, storage, databases, security products, monitoring, capacity and performance tools, clustering, vitalisation, etc.
Experience in managing the operations and support of technology infrastructure equipment and services, specifically UNIX (Solaris), Wintel, DBA (Sybase and Oracle) and storage administration.
Proven history in managing complex issues.
