Edinburgh City Centre - Operational Risk Manager

My client are an independent investment house, based in Edinburgh city centre and are currently seeking an Operational Risk Manager to assist the Legal and Compliance functions.

The primary responsibilities of the role is to ensure the Company's operational procedures and internal controls meet industry and regulatory standards and they provide a sound platform for the Company's operations and business development.
This will include, inter alia, managing
(a) the processes to enable the Company to obtain a satisfactory, independently audited internal controls reports;
(b) the Company's operational risk review process and maintenance of an
operational risk matrix; and
(c) compliance with CRD requirements.

Specific responsibilities include:

Review existing operational procedures to evaluate internal controls

Recommend enhancements where necessary and oversee their implementation;

Implement policies and procedures around risk limits

Identify and quantify risk exposures in the business; assist in the development of limits; report on and monitor risks with respect to these limits;

Developing and delivering reporting formats and data sourcing requirements in conjunction with IT to improve
and automate risk reporting process;

Provide risk analysis and commentary to operational management and others within the firm;

Developing and delivering a robust and productive working relationship with all business areas and third party providers; help ensure awareness of the importance of internal controls and risk-based business management

Provision of back up and assistance with regulatory issues and monitoring.

Experience / qualifications:

Previous experience would be in either audit or risk - or at least potential to do it.

Educated to degree standard or good academic record.
