An opportunity has arisen within our Commercial Division for a Finance and Logistics Analyst to support the contract management team with clear and concise analyses in the areas of finance and logistics optimisation, as well as to be the main point of contact between different divisions with regard to freight costs.

Our client works in partnership with a large manufacturing company and is responsible for the transport management activities throughout Europe and the USA. The finance and logistics analyst reports directly to the manager finance and logistics analysis.

This position is an ongoing temporary position with the possibility of leading to a permanent contract.

Job Title :         Finance and Logistics Analyst

Location :        Irvine, Aryshire

Hours of Work specific to this assignment :

08.30 – 17.00 Monday – Thursday

08.30 – 16.00 Friday

Pay rate :         £25,000 per annum

                       

Tasks :

General

  • Optimising the process of audit and payment of carrier invoices, as well as re-billing freight costs
  • Monitoring and improving the quality and completeness of shipment information gathered in the transport management system
  • Co-ordinating freight cost recharges to / reimbursement from various entities
  • Identification of inefficiencies as well as improving user processes, propose and manage through to conclusion the development of IT system changes to optimise transport flows and finance related operations processes
  • Establishing and maintaining a performance measurement system that supports optimal business decisions
  • Initiating and leading optimisation studies to review and improve the structure of the transport operation
  • Co-ordinating projects executed by the local operational teams

Specifics                                                                                                               

  • Support the central invoice processing with the escalation of invoice queries to carriers and to operations staff
  • Initiate and follow up process improvements in invoice auditing
  • Review cost allocation to entities, and improve the back up information attached to the cost summaries
  • Calculate accruals
  • Monitoring / recording freight cost developments
  • Analyse the completeness and accuracy of operational TMS data and identify ways to improve this
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analyses, like freight-uplift percentages, rate developments and so on
  • Co-ordinate the definition of contract KPI’s and set up procedures and systems to measure and report these KPI’s
  • In conjunction with the contract manager and the operations managers, identify and investigate opportunities to improve the service from a time (speed) quality/reliability or from a cost point of view
  • Implement standardised Project Management methodology within the European contract

Requirements :

  • University-level of education (or equivalent by experience) in the area of  economics / business / finance
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Accuracy (contract value in 2008 over 30 million euro)
  • Good communication skills within an organisation with a large number of stakeholders in various areas and countries:
  • “Hands-on” mentality
  • Good knowledge of data analysis techniques
  • Good understanding of financial processes
  • Excellent PC skills, particularly Excel and Access
  • Flexible and committed

Full induction will be given at the start of the first shift which will involve H&S, site rules, client requirements, training and paperwork.
