As a highly experienced development Scientist you will direct and manage a small team of protein scientists, chemists and analysts involved in process development, scale-up and manufacture of protein conjugates. This is a permanent post to be based in Grangemouth.
The successful candidate will have the privilege of working with a leading global supplier of complex organic molecules; as such you will be involved on the production of cytotoxic antibody conjugates for the oncology market. Due to its success our client has several new projects pushing them into an exciting phase of rapid expansion, thus producing numerous challenging recruitment opportunities.
REQUIREMENTS
Should you undertake this role your daily duties will include some or all of the following:
- Management of a Small team
- Synthesis of protein conjugates in R&D environment
- Development of purification protocols (UF and/or chromatography based)
- Use of appropriate analytical techniques for characterization
- Interpretation, recording and reporting of data
- Participation in scale-up activities (non-GMP and GMP manufacture)
- Process validation activities
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Ideally you will have early stage protein development/characterisation experience and should be comfortable with lab scale protein handling and analysis - primarily HPLC based. This must be coupled with large-scale bio-processing and/or protein manufacturing experience. The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate expertise in one or more of the following:
- Chromatography development , scale-up and transfer into a GMP facility
- Process characterisation
- Process robustness studies/Proven Acceptable range establishment
- Establishment of qualified scale down process models
An appreciation of working in a GMP environment would be advantageous. From a man management stand point you should have a ‘lead by example' attitude in the establishment of process-scale ultra-filtration and chromatography equipment. This must be matched with a drive for continuous improvement and the ability to contribute and influence at senior management level. The role will entail significant customer interaction, both written and verbal, and the candidate must be an excellent communicator. Familiarisation with protein conjugation technology is desirable however not essential.
From an educational perspective PhD level candidates are preferable however applicants with relevant industrial experience will be supplied with a distinct advantage.
