Department summary

AEGON UK centralised IT function provides services to AEGON UK, AEGON Asset Management, AUKS (Lytham) and AEGON Group Shared Services.  

The scope of these services includes Infrastructure and Application Development delivered by means of a mixed IT sourcing model.

This Department is responsible for delivery of high-quality cost-effective services, with effective communication throughout and predictable delivery.

Responsibilities

To lead the delivery of large projects (likely to be business critical, complex, with specific funding and delivering significant service/process/organisational/cultural change within a single location) or complex workstreams within a programme.

To lead the delivery of a strategic portfolio of projects or services which are delivering change within a single location.

To lead the delivery of an IT & Change Service, securing, delivery, managing and reporting on  service plans, resourcing, third party contract and operational management.  Manage Service Stakeholders as appropriate.

Responsibilities will include:

1.       To be accountable for the successful delivery of major projects or project portfolios - specifically:

  • successful delivery to time, scope and budget
  • ensure projects are adequately resourced.
  • ·timely production of  deliverables and management of risks/issues ensuring these are resolved or escalated as appropriate
  • ensure dependencies are identified and tracked (potentially across the portfolio)
  • liaise with impacted areas and ensure a high level of effective communication is maintained throughout the project lifecycle
  • provide appropriate progress updates to the project/portfolio board and other stakeholders, through both formal and informal channels, developing a close working relationship with the sponsor and key business owners
  • ensure project phases are closed out effectively and subsequently reviewed

2.       Manage all project/portfolio reporting and communications

  • to the portfolio/project board and other stakeholders
  • within the project team to all the resources deployed on the project
  • to all external suppliers to the portfolio/project

3.       Lead, manage and motivate the project, business and third party resource deployed on the projects

  • identify resource requirements and skill gaps
  • manage the performance of direct reports
  • contribute to the performance management of indirect reports as required
  • maintain and encourage a climate of continuous development

4.       Lead an IT& Change Service area

  • ensure rolling 18 month Service Delivery Plan agreed & resourced
  • ensure delivery of Service against plan, and the roadmap of technical service development
  • ensure appropriate stakeholder management
  • ensure third party contract and relationship management

Requirements

Essential:

  • Programme / project/ Service Management and planning
  • Budget Management and Evaluation
  • People Management
  • Change management
  • Broad range of experience in Life & Pensions Businesses
  • Issue / Risk Management
  • Significant experience of portfolio/project/ Service  delivery, sufficient to demonstrate a credible track record and to command the necessary respect of the project/service sponsor and those people deployed on the project.

Desirable

  • Relevant graduate level qualification or equivalent.
  • Broad range of experience in Life & Pensions Businesses
  • Prince 2 certified
