The Scottish Health Council was set up to make sure that people's voices count in the NHS. We do this in a number of ways including helping NHS Boards involve patients, carers and the wider community in the decisions they make about services.

As a result of a recent major organisational review, we are seeking to appoint a new full-time senior level post to our management team, to lead the implementation of a new functional approach to our vital work with NHS Boards and other stakeholders across Scotland in the promotion of Patient Focus and Public Involvement, and the emergent Participation agenda.

The Head of Operations (ref: SHC168) will assume the full range of operational corporate responsibilities including the management of our national network of 14 local offices, ensuring consistent delivery of our Community Engagement & Improvement Support function, leading development of our work plan, and deputising for the Director. You will be educated to post-graduate level or equivalent (most likely in a management discipline) and possess significant senior management experience. Proven experience of leading organisational change is essential, along with an inspirational approach to people management. You will also bring outstanding analytical, numerical, influencing and general communication skills to the role.
