The Curriculum Area of Motor Vehicle Engineering requires a technician to assist and support our lecturing staff with the day to day delivery of our education and training programmes. This is a temporary contract which will be renewed on a month-to-month basis.
You will be a full member of the Motor Vehicle Curriculum Team and the remit involves the routine maintenance and repair of college equipment and machinery, as well as the setting up, operation, and breaking down of teaching materials for specific lessons, and the general care and good housekeeping of the workshops and classrooms. The college runs a small number of vehicles and it will be your responsibility to ensure that the vehicles are serviced, fit for purpose, and meet the appropriate legal requirements.
You will be a team player, have good communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work unsupervised on their own initiative. With a reasonable level of computer literacy, you will be able to maintain effective records. You must have served a recognised apprenticeship as a motor vehicle mechanic and should be educated to HNC/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent. It is essential that you have a full driving licence, a good knowledge of modern motor vehicle systems and be conversant with safety requirements in the workshop environment.
