Results Adviser in our Value for Money Department – Based in East Kilbride near Glasgow

Starting salary £43,985 progressing to a maximum of £52,424

With strong statistical skills (particularly in data collection; analysis and interpretation); a sound understanding of managing for development results; and knowledge of monitoring and evaluation methodology you will work within our Value for Money Department. The Value for Money Department aims to maximise the results DFID achieves with each £ of aid spent by building a stronger culture of commercial management, results focus and value for money throughout DFID and our partners.

You will assist the team in providing support and advice on results issues and will be at the cutting edge of driving forward change in DFID.

This is a great opportunity to work at the heart of DFID and to drive forward the value for money and results agenda – a high profile corporate priority. It will provide opportunities for a motivated individual to apply strong analytical skills to core DFID business and to help embed a stronger culture of results based management across the organisation. Duties include supporting DFID divisions implement the Department’s Results Action Plan priorities; particularly through strengthening country, programme and project results frameworks; improving the quality of indicators used to monitor and communicate results; and by helping to embed a stronger results culture across the organisation.

You will contribute to the design of a streamlined performance framework linking corporate, country and project level targets into a more coherent reporting structure. Working to strengthen the measurement of value for money and intensifying the pace of Results Action Plan implementation (particularly in the more challenging areas such as fragile states, climate change etc.), you will ensure DFID is able to deliver results most effectively, and has robust evidence to communicate those results.

You should have at least a numerate first degree (in statistics or a closely related subject) and preferably a masters. Previous experience of results based management is highly desirable, either in a developed or developing country context.  Experience of managing people and strong communications skills (written and oral) are required.  You should be fluent in English.

DFID is an equal opportunities employer and selection is on merit. Candidates should be UK nationals, nationals of a member state of the European Economic Area (EEA), Swiss or Turkish Nationals or Commonwealth citizens.
