Job Description

What is the role? With delegated authority from a Senior Manager to be responsible for the operational and strategic management of the Traffic & Transportation service of Roads, providing a clear sense of direction to deliver customer focused services. What will you do? Contribute to and implement strategic and policy decisions for Traffic & Transportation. To design and supervise traffic management schemes, the maintenance of road marking and signs including design installation and maintenance of signals and pedestrian crossings. To promote, implement and monitor road safety policies and supervise the investigation of accidents and the analysis of accident statistics and to manage, prepare and assess Safety Audits. Support the Roads Manager with the preparation of bids for Capital and revenue funding and assist in the preparation of bids for external funding. Take a lead role in the management of the tender process ensuring that all documentation is accurate and that performance of projects is regularly monitored including the preparation of scheme estimates and project co-ordination as required. Attend, as required, public enquiries, planning appeals and public meetings. What do you need to bring? Educated to degree level in relevant discipline or equivalent professional qualification. Experience of undertaking the strategic development and operational management and effective delivery of services within Traffic & Transportation. Financial management experience.
