Hours: 35 hours per week Location: Prestwick Airport To participate in the co-ordination of the preparation of statutory contingency plans across Ayrshire and deputise as required for the manager of the Ayrshire Civil Contingencies Team (ACCT) to ensure that North, South and East Ayrshire councils are prepared to respond to civil emergencies.



What will you do?

You will assist in ensuring that the 3 Ayrshire Councils fulfil their statutory emergency planning obligations, deputise for the manager of the ACCT in their absence, managing/delivering the Service and managing/assisting in the design, development, co-ordination and delivery of an emergency planning training programme for staff of the 3 Ayrshire Councils and where necessary, partner organisations. You will also support the work of the Strathclyde Strategic Co-ordinating Group (SECG), participate in the management of the 3 Councils' responses to emergency situations and maintain arrangements to establish and operate effective Emergency Control Centres for each Council.

What do you need to bring to the Role?

Educated to degree level or equivalent or relevant period of experience in Civil Contingencies Practitioner role, experience of Civil Contingencies planning/development and response to emergency situations are all essential for this post. Other essential criteria include effective communication skills, both verbal and written, knowledge of current civil contingencies matters and associated legislation and an understanding of integrated Emergency Management both at local and national level. As an enthusiastic individual, you must work as part of a team, be willing to undertake appropriate training and travel to different locations throughout Ayrshire.
