A temporary vacancy has arisen for an experienced design draughtsperson in a busy design office based in Ayrshire. The business supplies aluminium curtain walling, doors & windows to the construction industry across Scotland.

Job Purpose

Control contracts from receipt of order to issue for manufacture, and answering questions and overcoming technical problems thereafter, and on completion of contracts the preparation of as-built packages.

Extract data from all relevant sources (e.g. the Bill of Quantities, drawings and specification on which the tender was based; contract issue drawings and specification; technical limits set by suppliers; current legislation and standards; correspondence; site conditions) and convert it into accurate and well presented information that can be used to order material, build and install the product, prepare method statements and risk assessments, identify changes from tender and bill for work done. The information is to be presented in the form of drawings, specification sheets, glazing schedules, fixing lists, etc.

Communication with main contractors, architects, suppliers and others to ensure information is current and accurate, and that any changes are recorded.

Communication of information within Albann to ensure all aspects of the contract is understood by all relevant personnel.

Attend meetings on site, at contractors’ and architects’ offices to gather and record information, to settle technical disputes and represent Albann’s interests.

Preparation and presentation of alternative proposals when those presented by the architect or client are impractical.

Ensure the suitability of own work to meet contractual obligations, and clients’ reasonable requests, and that products are fit for purpose particularly with respect to anticipated wind loads and meeting current legislation and standards.

Check own work, and that of colleagues when called upon to do so.

Maintain contract files.

Work on multiple contracts.

Manage own time.

To be considered for this role you must have the following:

Qualifications:

Minimum HNC/HND in draughting / design.

Key Skills

Autocad 2010

Experience in working with Schuco, Senior Aluminium Systems and Metal Technology Systems are necessary.
