Our client is a Major Utility company working throughout the UK.  At one of their prestigious Scottish Sites they are looking for an Experienced Power Sector Engineer Engineer to perform the role of Technical Risk Engineer.   In this role you will provide support to the Engineering Manager to manage the assigned physical process to achieve the Business Plan/Balanced Scorecard objectives. This will include safety, environment, operations, maintenance strategy, technical risk management and development of Capital and Revenue Budget requirements
 
Further duties will include -  
To manage the personnel requirements of a small group of Process Engineers
 
To possess the skills, technical knowledge, nominations and authorisations required to carry out the full scope of activities required within the post in order to provide maintenance and engineering support in the most cost effective manner.·
 
To develop, monitor, assess and refine the maintenance strategy for the process areas, through the use of appropriate techniques such as RCM. 
 
To work with the team to develop and prepare capital proposals for investment
 
Carry out engineering roles such as, work scope definition, technical specification production, tender assessment and design assurance in the implementation phase for all work inc. major/minor projects
 
To assist in the development, justification and benefits case preparation for CAPEX and REVEX expenditure and contribute as required in the preparation of the Station's Business Plan for each process area.
 
To manage technical risk by implementing, Engineering Standards, Tech Guidance Documents Plant Status Review, Strategic spares and other processes as required
 
To monitor equipment within the process area against performance objectives and initiate and implement engineering modifications/improvements which will enhance the performance, availability and reliability of the plant/apparatus where necessary.
 
Produce Engineering reports as required.
 
Keep abreast of Engineering innovations to help Location performance.  Analyse data to identify failure trends, modes and implement solutions to minimise these in the future.
 
Carry out plant inspections to understand root cause of failures and to keep abreast of plant condition
 
Provide authoritive technical guidance to other engineers within the team and function
 
The Technical Risk Engineer will be assessed by the Engineering Manager who will set objectives, give coaching and recommend training to increase competency and flexibility as the post develops.     

Candidates will be expected to be Degree level educated in a mechanical or materials engineering discipline.  You should also demonstrate capabilities through significant experience in an Engineering role in a large scale process industry.  Have an understanding of boiler tube failure mechanisms and a knowledge of the time dependant properties of materials.  It's also desirable for potential candidates to have experience in the following: complex engineering project management, operations and maintenance management; contractors, consultants and expert advisors.
