As part of the Business Management and Change function the role holder will be responsible for driving strong cost control across the business. This will include planning, managing and tracking against all costs/budgets including overall revenue budget, cost budget, marketing cost budget and debt provisioning. The role holder will also ensure adherence to the cost framework in conjunction with finance and associated departments. The role holder will also be responsible for ensuring fit for purpose management information is produced across front office and infrastructure departments to track performance, ensure adequate control of processes and to inform key decisions of the senior management team. In addition, the role holder will be responsible for day to day performance and problem management providing coordination of speedy resolution of issues and recommendations for improvement. The role holder will also be required to oversee project delivery as and when required.
Key functions performed by the Business Management and Change team are:
Costs and Performance Management - revenue, cost, marketing, SI and budget management, headcount management, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) reporting, SLA performance reporting.
Risk / Regulation Management - ongoing risk review of processes, policy and procedures; ongoing management of policy changes.
Infrastructure Service Management - internal service / contract management of infrastructure partners.
Client Experience Management - Programme Management of client experience initiatives, process analysis and change recommendation and ongoing call analytics.
Change Management - delivery of Front Office change, business project prioritisation / governance, reporting and IT engagement model.
The Cost and Performance Manager will be the Front Office point of contact for all cost / budget queries, sundry loss, debt position/ policy and team best practice and governance.
Cost Management: Responsible for driving strong cost control and discipline across the business ensuring all business related costs are effectively planned, managed and communicated including overall cost and revenue budgets, marketing budget, debt provisions and ancillary budgets controlled centrally. The role holder will be required to build strong relationships with department heads ensuring cost control is in place and accountabilities are understood. Ongoing tracking and reporting of spend against budgets and re-forecasting in conjunction with finance partners will be required in addition to identification of risks and opportunities to budget throughout the year. The role holder will also provide internal guidance on business cases demonstrating strong commercial focus with a requirement to actively contribute to strategic direction through development of commercially viable proposals which will drive increases in revenue/decreases in cost. The role holder will also will provide ongoing reviews of actual costs incurred, regular analysis and tracking of cost positions and governance of spend by adhering to business policies and procedures.
Performance and Problem Management: The role holder will be responsible for providing day to day coordination of wide tactical problem resolution from being seen as "point of contact" through mobilising correct parties together to resolve issues and define the required internal and external communications to be issued. For smooth execution generic scenarios will need to be fully documented and planned in advance to allow for speedy resolution against pre-authorised routes of action and necessary processes established to resolve "new" issues if and when they occur. The role holder's day to day focus will be on speedy resolution to minimise/eliminate client impact. Following each resolution clear recommendations will be submitted to management on longer term fixes.
Ad hoc Project Management: The role holder may be required to oversee ad hoc project delivery as required ensuring the necessary governance, control and delivery mechanisms are in place from inception, business case preparation and team mobilisation to full delivery.
Professional/technical experience: The right candidate will have strong financial control experience and demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to prioritise to meet tight deadlines. The role holder must be able to communicate confidently and clearly to all levels within the organisation. Some project management knowledge would be preferable and strong PC literacy is mandatory along with strong oral and written skills, including presentations. The individual must be highly self motivated with a proactive approach to planning and organising. The individual will also be forward thinking (challenging the status quo) as well as an excellent team player. The candidate should also demonstrate a strong focus on the customer to meet and exceed their needs through creative problem solving.
Academic and professional qualifications
The candidate will be preferably educated to degree level or above. Qualified accountant (ACMA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent is preferable.
