Here at Amazon we are currently looking to hire an experienced Process Operations Manager (Continuous Improvement / Lean Principles) to join the team and play a critical role in the operation of our Glenrothes Fulfilment Centre (FC), in Fife.
The Process Operations Manager will work to continuously improve the functionality and level of service that the FCs provides to our customers, resulting in exceeded productivity goals and delivery to our customer promise. This role reports to the site General Manager, working closely with colleagues and other managers within the EU ACES (Amazon Customer Excellence System) team.
Tasks/ Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the ACES including Kaizen, Lean, and other Change/ Six Sigma initiatives to enable Operations and ultimately the FC to attain Amazon’s Business Plan
- Influence and train Management Teams in one-on-one and group environments
- Teach and develop Operational Excellence (OE)- Black Belts (BB) and OE-Green Belts (GB)
- Provide Technical Expertise at least two of the following: 7 Quality Tools, Lean, Theory of Constraints, Kaizen, Simulation, Process re-engineering, Andon, Standard Work.
- Help teams and individuals translate customer CTQs to operational requirements
- Assist in data collection and interpretation methodologies
- Identify application opportunities for the technical/ statistical tools of quality/ process improvement
- Leverage off Area Managers and Team Leaders to source and nurture ideas and roll them into the creation of improvement plans for the FC
- Take proactive steps to ensure that best practices are shared across all departments and shifts
- Work closely with support staff (HR, Financial Manager, Facilities Manager, Safety & Security Manager, IT Technical Support Supervisor) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives
Experience/Skills:
- Experience in a quantitative role- Engineering, Process Re-Engineering, Quality, Operations / Logistics.
- Able to analyse complex processes.
- Additional accreditations desirable e.g. MCQI (Member of the Chartered Quality Institute)
- Demonstrate strong track record of team leadership within a large scale rapid and process driven environment, whilst also being able to handle multiple projects.
- Demonstrate a strong track record of problem solving and very strong analytical skill capability as he/ she will is required to look at and find solutions for a variety of operations problems. Look at the difficulty – and fix it. Good timely decisions will need to be made on a regular basis. There is rarely time for a committee decision, the individual will have to be prepared to take on responsibility for his/her actions
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Candidates will ideally be at least degree qualified in a Science or Logistics based discipline or be a direct MBA graduate. Six Sigma Green or Operational Black Belts welcome.
