Background

The Save & Invest Group is a dynamic business providing integrated wealth management services. The Group has two main business streams:

• The provision of independent financial advice and
• The provision of estate agency services and services to support a law firm specialising in the residential property market

The Group has recently increased its IFA business through the acquisition of clients of two businesses and has plans to complete more transactions of this type. It also has ambitious plans to increase the size and profitability of its estate agency business.

The Group has developed its own innovative technical platform which supports both business streams. The Group intends to develop the platform further and to use it to provide services to other IFA businesses. The Group also plans to enhance its finance function.

To help achieve its expansion plans and to lead its finance function the Group has created the new role of Commercial and Finance Director and wishes to appoint a person to this role.

Main Purposes of the Role

The main purposes of the role are:

• to support the Group’s plans to develop its business by helping to identify client banks to be acquired by the Group or businesses to join it, to lead the acquisition team and assist with the integration of these assets or businesses

• to strengthen and develop the Group’s finance function and

• to lead the Group’s plan to supply its technical platform to other IFA businesses for use by them.

Key Responsibilities

• manage the Group’s system of financial controls

• provision of management accounts and financial information

• lead the Group’s  finance team

• support the Group Managing Director to identify assets to be acquired by the Group and to lead the acquisition team

• identify opportunities to develop the Group’s business and where appropriate to lead the new business  team

• work with the Board to develop the Group’s strategy

Key Accountabilities

To the Board and the Group Managing Director and the Chief Executive of the estate agency business.

Knowledge and Experience

• An accountant with a recognised professional qualification

• Familiar with the operation of systems of financial control

• Familiar with transactions for the acquisition or disposal of business assets

• Experience of developing new business preferably in a professional services sector
