YMCA Glasgow are currently recruiting for an Out of School Care Coordinator to be based within our Youth Zone Project in St Bernard’s Primary School. As a member of the Out of School Care team you will be required to provide a high quality of Out of School Care service that meets with the current National Standards.
Reporting directly to the Project Manager and through him/her to the Area Manager, Assistant Director, Director of Operations and ultimately the Chief Executive Officer your duties will entail:
• Coordinating and supporting the work of the childcare team on the day-to-day running of OOSC provision
• Providing supervision and support to the childcare team
• Coordinating the collection of children from school (where appropriate) and the safe delivery to parents and/or named carer
• Ensuring that the OOSC is a safe environment for children, that equipment is safe, standards of hygiene are high and safety procedures are implemented at all times
• Providing safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities, preparing and organising the activities programme that supports the development of children ages between 5 and 14
• Facilitating children’s social, physical, intellectual, communication and emotional development
• Promoting and reinforcing the self-esteem of all the children
• Ensuring records with personal details of children and their families are properly maintained and held securely
• Establishing and developing positive working relationships with colleagues, parents and carers
• Carrying out day-to-day administration of the service i.e. record keeping, banking, responding to contact from parents or others
• Working within an agreed budget
• Being aware of and following the policies and procedures of YMCA Glasgow
• Maintaining confidentiality at all times
• Liaising with external agencies, as agreed by line manager
• Any other reasonable duties to specified
It is essential that all applicants are educated to SVQ 4 Level in Child Care/ Management or equivalent and knowledge of current relevant legislation, policies and strategies relating to child care services. The ideal candidate will have the ability to successfully co-ordinate and motivate staff as well as maintain budgets efficiently and effectively. A working knowledge and understanding of developing safe, creative, appropriate play opportunities for children and a full driving licence are desirable.
