Job Purpose
The job holder is responsible for providing administrative support to the Head of ACCA Scotland and to the ACCA Scotland Committee.
Nature & Scope
This post relates specifically to ACCA Scotland - the name for ACCA’s members’ activities in Scotland. ACCA Scotland, which is part of ACCA UK, is responsible for the provision of a comprehensive range of services and support facilities for members. ACCA UK was created out of the global headquarters as an operational division to provide focus for ACCA's largest and strategically most important market.
ACCA Scotland is also responsible for raising the profile of ACCA in the media, among business leaders and with the Scottish Parliament. In part, this is achieved through high profile events such as business lectures, business breakfasts and graduation ceremonies. The post-holder will be responsible for all administrative aspects of these events.
Principal Accountabilities
- providing all-round administrative support to the Head of ACCA Scotland
- acting as the first point of contact for outside enquiries
- maintaining office, personal and event diaries
- maintaining a database of Scottish press and media outlets
- maintaining a database of business, political, media and public sector contacts
- maintaining database of venues for events and activities, including suitability of venue and delegate feedback
- assisting with the administration of Members’ Network matters as required
- production and co-ordination of all event materials
- attending Members’ Network panels and events (can include attending evening events)
- providing support to Services manager on budget management for ACCA Scotland events and activities
- working on ad hoc projects as necessary
Person Specification
The successful candidate will possess the following attributes:
- educated to at least an HNC/HND level or equivalent, or have demonstrable relevant work experience
- good all round administrative skills
- a professional and competent manner with people, both telephone and face-to-face
- a “self-starter” who is proactive with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- personally well-organised and capable of prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines
- flexible and willing to work under pressure
- an eye for detail and sound judgement
- accurate keyboard skills and a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office and in-company systems.
Conditions
1. Salary – commensurate with skills and experience.
2. Annual leave, in addition to public/bank holidays, is 22 days as well as 3 Christmas day's leave, which is taken either during the Christmas period or during the following year. The annual leave period is from 1 January to 31 December.
3. Pension Scheme - ACCA has a contributory Staff Pension Scheme which employees may join if they wish.
4. Travel Loan - Each employee is eligible for an interest-free loan for the purchase of a season ticket.
5. Flex-time - ACCA operates a flex-time system with employees being required to work 140 hours within each four week period.
6. ACCA operates a non-smoking policy in all its premises.
