Job Role: Youth Employability Trainer

Salary Banding £19,661 - £25,571.

To develop and deliver a range of courses which will support young people who reside within the West and Central Area of the City of Glasgow.  The main target group are young people (aged 15 -19yrs) who are in need of More Choices and More Chances (Not in Education, Employment or Training).

Provide impartial, person centred support, guidance and advice to assist young people through key transition stages and progress them into positive and sustainable outcomes: training, education and employment

Specific Tasks: -  

  • Deliver a range of employability skills training to clients
  • Develop positive working relationships with young people on the Caseload
  • Assist young people to identify strengths, weaknesses and skills using employability and soft skills measurement tools (both formal and informal)
  • Develop appropriate materials and approaches to engage and sustain clients on courses/programmes.  Develop materials, and design and deliver training programmes that lead to progression onto nationally recognised training programmes and thus leads to nationally recognised qualifications
  • Facilitate training leading to nationally recognised qualifications and be familiar with assessment and verification processes and practices
  • To co-ordinate the involvement of other partners in delivering courses which help clients to progress along the employability pathway
  • To monitor and evaluate courses and client progression
  • To work with staff in supporting clients who have engaged in learning
  • To provide the employability and PD elements to linked courses such as Get Ready for Work
  • To run one off PD sessions for other services within the company and for partners agencies
  • Provision of career planning and job search assistance
  • Co-ordinate expenses, signing in sheets, disclosure for clients, travel, venue hire etc.

Initial registration of clients

Information gathering

Assessment of client needs using agreed structured procedures

Encourage positive attitudes towards training and employment

Support the Production of Action Plans

Provide advice on career training opportunities

Record and Monitor client progress

Provide aftercare for clients that have progressed into employment

Coordinate the provision of in work grant funding

Manage caseload efficiently and effectively
