Technical Accountant (fixed term contract)

The purpose of the role is to give BP2S a market leading capability in terms of knowledge and timing of technical developments.
The Technical Accounting Department exists to provide support to the business through monitoring of external developments
This support includes:
- Reviewing accounting and regulatory developments (changes to accounting standards etc ) and assessing their impact on our operations and on clients
- Providing support on specific projects as required
- Providing support to BAU teams when required , e.g in answering issues raised by auditors / clients
- Monitoring compliance with the AAF within investment accounting areas and monitoring status of procedures and that they are being adhered to.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify market developments and document and where appropriate develop BP2S solutions
- Production of regular technical team deliverables – monthly pronouncements list, quarterly newsletter, briefing notes on specific developments
- Provide support to BAU teams on technical accounting issues raised by auditors , clients etc and also through regular monthly forums.
- Manage projects and own time to ensure deadlines are met – define scope, plan it and implement to live environment per timetable and without detrimental impact on BAU, while also providing regular feedback on progress to manager
- Support the quality and control function through monitoring of compliance with AAF, monitoring status of procedures, involvement with spot-checking programmes
- Provide cover for Manager in his absence
Skills / Knowledge Required:
- Full accountancy qualification
Desirable:
- Experience in an audit environment
- He/she should be enthusiastic and wish to continually improve the way the work is produced
- He/she should be able to work well under pressure, and prioritise tasks effectively in order to meet deadlines and to avoid creating stress on yourself and others
- He/she should be able to minimise significant delays or errors
