A global civil engineering main contractor are looking for a general manager to head up their operations in Scotland on a permanent basis. The company are well known for their involvement in Bridge Construction globally but are also heavily involved in general civil engineering projects and regularly sub contract within the Global Market.
The purpose of the role is to manage and develop all aspects of the business in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England.
Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
· Overall responsibility for the initial tendering, negotiation and securing of multiple contracts of varying sizes.
· To provide a hands-on and pro-active approach to business development for the business, encompassing Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of England.
· To demonstrate the ability to maintain, develop and drive the business forward by establishing and building an effective network of key contacts in relevant sectors.
· To support, coach and mentor a team of staff including Estimators, Contracts Managers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and Administration support functions.
· Adherence to all Company and Legislative Reporting, Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures.
· To travel to site locations as needed to support and guide Contract and Project Managers.
· To attend and actively contribute to monthly Management Meetings and any other required ad-hoc meetings held.
· To attend client meetings as required in the normal course of the job.
Candidates need only apply if they are educated to educated to degree level or above, if they can have proven experience of Site/Contract Management including civils, structural repair and refurbishment. Candidates must have proven experience of completing estimates and tender submissions for potential business and have proven experience of successful business development within the civils sector.
