Software Project Manager Glasgow   £Negotiable depending on experience

As a result we are looking for a number of ambitious, creative and determined people to join our fast expanding team.

We’re looking for a Software Project Manager to work in our Glasgow office on a full-time permanent basis, working on a variety of small, medium and large projects. Typically, you will be running 2 – 3 technical software projects concurrently.  You will be driving project requirements, business objectives, priorities, deadlines and planning to ensure project deliverables are met according timescales and budget.

As a Software Project Manager you will be responsible for:

• Gathering requirements and project planning
• Cost estimation and budget planning/control   
• Project Scheduling
• Risk management and issue resolution
• Testing, installation and deployment
• Liaising with and managing 3rd parties and contractors
• Preparing and presenting project status reports and other project documentation

You will have a flair for creative solutions to overcoming problems, and have strong leadership, organizational and communications skills. You will be able to manage technical software projects and programs in a fast-paced, changing, environment. You will have the ability to work on your own initiative, and be capable of being flexible and responding well to change.  You must be a team player who is highly motivated and detailed oriented.

Required Skills:

• Successful track record of delivering/managing large scale business software implementations throughout the full development lifecycle
• Experience of managing large technical software projects/programmes (20+ people and million pound plus budgets)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong technical background with a good understanding of the software engineering process along with a broad appreciation of common application architectures
• Experience in dealing with and managing multiple 3rd party companies and contractors
• Working knowledge and practical application of Agile project management methodologies such as DSDM or Scrum
• Worked on business facing projects and be capable of undertaking application development projects with a strong business focus
• Knowledge of ITIL an asset

In general, 55degrees hire Software Project Managers who hold a bachelors degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline. Graduates from other fields with relevant commercial experience would also be considered.
