General

 

A vacancy has arisen at Regional Office for a Regional QS Assistant to assist in all commercial aspects of the housing works delivered though Operations. Experience of minor projects, Housing refurbishments and Maintenance term contracts experience required. Experience of Incentivised Contracts preferred.  

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Core Services Maintenance Contracts

 

  • Administer Commercial aspects of Maintenance Contracts
  • Check pricing of orders
  • 5% checks & audits
  •  Interim valuations
  • Maintain Target Costs.
  • Assist with reconciliation of actual costs.

 

 

  1. Housing Projects.

 

  • ·Refine and agree Target Costs in collaboration with the DE Cost Consultant and Commercial Officer.
  • ·Interim valuations and ratification of these, agreed in consultation with the DE Cost Consultant.
  • Actual costs/Final Account and the agreement of these with the supplier and ultimately the DE Cost Consultant.
  • ·Participate in  Value Engineering exercises at the design stage of MPTC Solutions.
  • Provide cost forecasts and reports as required including liaison with Finance.
  • Investigate and provide evidence of Value for money.
  • ·Support Regional QS in delivery of regional exercises as directed
  • ·Provision of commercial support to Operations office.
  1. Supply Chain.

 

  • Responsible for the monitoring of the Suppliers involved with Regional and Housing projects.
  • Responsible for identifying any issues to the Supply Chain Manager.
  • ·Management of insurance matters and indemnities.

  Qualifications

A BSc in Quantity Surveying. RICS accredited, a basic knowledge of construction, understanding of Construction Law and tendering process. In addition, experience of working with the MOD or within a similar environment and significant post qualification experience is preferable.

The successful applicant will be a Good listener, have a flexible approach to relationships, empathy of timescales and priorities and a positive approach to achieving these.
