Eden Scott’s client is a world-leading chemical company. We now require an experienced Area Inspection Team Leader for their plant in Grangemouth. This is an immediately available opportunity, on a long-term contract basis only.
Key Duties:
- Develop, implement and manage inspection programmes (define scope, allocate resource, plan and execute mechanical inspections) for Businesses to achieve legal compliance and meet site standards and Business goals for asset integrity, reliability, costs and productivity.
- Certify and approve all Written Schemes of Examination and Inspection reports for the areas of responsibility to confirm that they meet legislative requirements and site inspection and integrity standards.
- Implement written schemes of examination, assess equipment condition and suitability for further service and report outcome to Business area to comply with legal requirements and Business goals.
- Define, coordinate and deliver specialist inspection support services, e.g. routine and specialist NDT, metallurgical services to meet plans agreed with the asset teams.
- Recommend repairs to restore ‘fit for purpose’ condition, accept repairs and assign inspection intervals to achieve legal compliance and business integrity goals.
- Define required team competencies for the Business area and set “letter of authority limits” for all inspection personnel (staff and agency) working in the Business area to deliver the inspection programme in accordance with the UKAS accredited inspection quality system.
- Provide inspection resource to support Projects, plant modifications and TAR work to deliver legal compliance and Business integrity requirements.
- Forecast and measure efficiency, effectiveness and productivity of the team to deliver information to drive the improvement program.
- Develop and deliver an inspection improvement program to match Inspection & Integrity team goals and business improvement targets.
- Select, manage, set standards, appraise, coach and develop staff and agency inspection engineers in the team to achieve the capability required by the business and comply with site HR processes.
- Inspect and accept new mechanical static equipment as “fit for service” to enable commissioning of plant.
Qualifications:
- Graduate Mechanical Engineer + Chartered Engineer or HNC / HND with 10 years plus experience; have experience of inspection, design, commissioning and plant operations, or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge of site inspection standards, legal requirements for inspection (e.g. PSSR, PED, Pipeline Safety Regs, LOLER) and the design, fabrication, purpose and operation of equipment being inspected.
- The jobholder will need to inspect a range of mechanical equipment as the ‘competent person’ defined in the Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 in order to judge condition and fitness for purpose for further periods of service in accordance with standards, National Design Codes and PSSR 2000.
- Detailed knowledge and expertise of the inspection module of the Maintenance Management system (Maximo).
- Knowledge of mechanical design codes together with their application in the refining and petrochemical industries.
- Knowledge of routine non destructive inspection techniques, an appreciation of specialist NDT techniques and detailed understanding of materials and corrosion mechanisms.
- 10+ years engineering experience. Demonstrable inspection experience of inspecting pipelines, pipework and vessels on a high hazard refining and petrochemicals manufacturing site.
- Task, team and individual management skills.
- Capability to communicate effectively at all levels in the organisation.
