The LGBT Network is a network of campaigners, activists, human rights
advocates… and the list goes on, the network was setup with one single
over-reaching aim which was to represent the LGBT community in everything we do.

The LGBT Network are in the process of assembling a board of trustees and are urgently looking for board members who are in or can travel to Glasgow for board meetings.

In order to appeal to the widest audience possible, we are not insisting on any formal board membership experience as a pre-requisite for application but will be expecting prospective trustees to: demonstrate excellent communication skills, integrity, strategic vision, ability to exercise good independent judgement, the ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak their mind.

Board Membership can be challenging, can take you out of your comfort zone and can really wrack your brain – but it can be rewarding, immensely valuable and fantastic experience for your CV. Being a member of the Board of Trustees will give you management experience, experience of governance, finance and charity law as well as hands-on experience of making difficult decisions.

Board Members will be expected to attend each board meeting and liaise with the Director to support existing campaigns and the creation of new ones. Trustees will play a very active role in the work of the charity and will be heavily involved in sourcing funding, developing the Network and will bring their ideas to further the aims of the charity.

Board Members aged between 18 - 25 are eligible for MV Volunteering Awards from the Scottish Government.

Although we support individuals’ right to choose which religion they practice and which beliefs they hold dear, the LGBT Network would not accept any person or persons into membership, employment or in the capacity of trustee or volunteer; who would refuse, object or otherwise work in any way contrary to our aims and objectives.

Although the LGBT Network will not ask you if you practice a particular religion, you will be asked if you have a religious, emotional or moral barrier which you feel may impede, prevent or otherwise distract you from working, as directed in achieving the aims and objectives of the organisation, we remind you that it is the individuals responsibility to make an honest declaration and update the Network should the situation change.
