An opportunity for a Quality Engineer with sound experience of applying Lean 6 Sigma  process improvement tools and techniques in a manufacturing environment. You will join our Manufacturing Quality team to support the quality performance of production, engineering, suppliers and subcontractors to deliver World Class quality performance in the manufacture of our industry-leading power generators.

The Job

  • Quality Focus: Support production and engineering in all aspects of quality performance. Ensure containment, root cause and preventative actions are established for all top quality issues, through leadership of cross-functional teams and utilisation of proven Lean 6 Sigma tools and techniques.
  • Supplier Management: Support the development and adherence of quality plans for suppliers and sub contractors. Assist procurement team with supplier quality performance metrics. Deliver timely resolution of supplier quality issues, ensuring supplier demonstrates clear understanding of the problem while delivering accurate corrective and preventive actions.
  • Quality Focus: Play leading role in weekly and daily quality forums, performing in depth trend analysis on failure data, while ensuring the management of day to day quality issues.
  • Continual Improvement: Participate in the identification and delivery of continual improvement projects, through leading or involvement in critical projects.

The Person

  • A degree/HND in Manufacturing/Production/Quality engineering or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Lean 6 Sigma tools and techniques, demonstrated ability to use structured problem solving methodologies.
  • Ability to identify critical quality issues, ensure containment and establish root cause at pace and under pressure through the leadership of cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9000 quality system, project management techniques and design for manufacture.
  • Ability to identify critical quality issues and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the underlying issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both internal and external customers.
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills. Demonstrates energy and a will-to-win.
  • Well organized, efficient self starter.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, such as a clear understanding of Microsoft suite of applications
