Norbert Dentressangle Transport General Manager Bellshill   £42,000 plus car allowance and excellent benefits

Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK has an exciting and rare opportunity for a Transport General Manager to work out of one of our largest sites in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.

You will take accountability for this JIT transport operation and VMU (Vehicle Maintenance Unit) to achieve effective and efficient operations with excellent standards in service. You will develop your team of operations managers, section managers and supervisors to manage all aspects of the operation.

Main accountabilities to include but not be limited to:

Plan and organise the schedules and operational work of the transport function to meet all service level criteria

Control and monitor key performance indicators to achieve operational, financial and service targets

Recruit, train, and coach members of the team to improve performance and manage underperformance where necessary

Promote positive industrial relations at the appropriate level to ensure continuous improvement

Promote safe working practices, attain and sustain high standards of H&S, hygiene and security within the working environment.

Ensure all standards comply with Policy and Legal Legislation

Ensure Department of Transport regulations are followed

Liaise with all departments and support services to provide a quality service set against company and client standards

Promote and develop an environment which is receptive and adaptable to business change Be aware of new operational systems and legislative changes, and adapt accordingly

Management of Operations Managers, Section Managers, Supervisors and other operational colleagues

Liaise with senior colleagues in other logistics functions, e.g. Warehouse, HR and Finance

Negotiate with external agencies and owner drivers to ensure the availability and operational effectiveness or agency staff resources

Work with the clients senior managers to ensure identified service issues are resolved

The ideal candidate will fulfil the following criteria:

Demonstrable experience within a similar role, managing a large transport operation

3rd Party Logistics experience desirable
National CPC essential and O Licence holder

Demonstrate evidence of continuous improvement

Possess excellent customer service and influencing skills

Experience managing budgets

Experience of leading and developing a large transport team
