Fostering Xtra Scheme

North Ayrshire Council is looking for people to become self-employed foster carers for children aged 10 years and over whose behaviour presents challenges to their carers. Placements can range from a few weeks to several years.

The scheme is looking for people who have:

* the skills, competencies and experience to meet the needs of these young people.
* experience of working with or caring for children and young people in this age group.
* the ability to work as part of a team.
* the ability to support young people through ‘thick and thin’.
* a spare room per child.
* a full time carer at home.
* no birth children under 12 years of age.
* no other children in placement.

In return foster carers will receive a very generous allowance for 52 weeks of the year to cover the cost of caring for a young person, plus specialist training and one to one support.
