An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced speciation analyst to lead and deliver research projects in the areas of high accuracy quantification and identification of bio/inorganic species. The successful applicant will be expected to harness the array of facilities within the team (quadrupole, magnetic-sector and multi-collector ICPMS coupled with separation techniques such as LC and GC; as well as molecular techniques such as LC-QqQ, Q-ToF, GC-ToF, ion traps, FT-ICRMS, MALDI-ToF-ToF) for the provision of solutions to meet the requirements for externally funded contracts and strategic research projects
Key result areas:·
Technical leadership, line management and mentoring of analytical researchers·
Developed understanding and effective use of sample preparation techniques and LC/GC-ICP-MS for the analysis of bio/inorganic species.·
Use of parallel elemental and molecular mass spectrometry in combination with separation techniques·
Liaison with Project Managers, Principal Scientists and research collaborators to ensure that project work is delivered according to agreed specifications for quality, time and budget.·
Publication & dissemination of scientific developments and achievements.
Candidate specification:
Ideal for a candidate with at least five years post-doctoral or equivalent experience in speciation analysis, the following skills are essential:·
Demonstrable experience and understanding of the use of ICP-MS and complimentary organic mass spectrometry techniques for novel applications·
Track record in delivering complex and challenging research and development project work, preferably within a metrology environment·
Enthusiastic and innovative scientist·
Ability to contribute execution and delivery of research projects to timescale and budget ·
Proven technical leadership and line management skills.·
Self reliant and self motivated team player·
Excellent presentational skills, both oral and written, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications
