Purpose of the role:
Reporting directly to Finance Director's the successful candidate will cover Engineering and new business winning teams with the aim of taking ownership of the development of the Commercial function with Regional Support and Engineering
As a Commercial Specialist your main responsibilities will involve:
- Application of the Operational Framework and in particular commercial contribution to the Life Cycle Management and Request for Bid Approval processes within the business.
- Awareness of aspects of law that affect activities of the Commercial function
- Contracting - key part of the business winning activities. Role requirements include:
- Clarifies customer requirements and their reflection in a contract drafting i.e. ensure contracts are clear and unambiguous, manage customer expectations and relationships.
- Demonstrates an ability to provide the commercial contributions required for route to contract.
- Ability to negotiate and finalise a good contract.
- Understands and has ability to contract/manage subcontractors and/or suppliers.
- Understanding the various contracting environments in which the business operates e.g. UK MoD
- Contract Management - active role in ongoing Risk/Opportunity identification management along with pro-actively managing contracts in conjunction with the business to closure, ensuring customer relationships maintained throughout.
- Financial Awareness - understands the financial consideration of bids and contracts along with an understanding of financial and management accounting.
Skills and qualifications:
- Must have worked within an industrial/commercial environment
- Ideally have a Foundation Diploma in Purchasing & Supply (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply)
- Good time management
- Excellent communication skills
