Job Title:

Communications & Media

 

Location:

Time split between Glasgow and Argyll offices

 

Reporting to:

CEO

 

Liaises with:

Other members of small senior management team and will work very closely with Fundraising Department.

 

Job Purpose:

To communicate the key messages of Mary’s Meals with the aim of raising awareness of our work in order to attract new supporters, to develop relationships with existing supporters and to reinforce the values of the organisation. You will be responsible for the development and implementation of Mary’s Meals communications and media strategy globally, managing the Communications team and be a key member of senior management.

 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 

Communications

  • Managing the Mary’s Meals brand and key messages in the UK and overseas.
  • Producing Mary’s Meals publications and key current information
  • Producing fundraising resources
  • Managing the website
  • Managing our social media strategy
  • Communications with existing supporters
  • Developing creative communications to support fundraising
  • Maintaining and strengthening our identity and values
  • Supporting overseas MM fundraising groups with their communications and media work
  • Working with other departments to ensure required flow of news and stories from overseas projects

Media

  • Generating positive media coverage to further our charitable objectives
  • Identifying opportunities, developing media campaigns
  • Receiving and managing press enquiries
  • Arranging media interviews and visits
  • Monitoring media coverage
  • Protecting the good name of Mary’s Meals

 

Person Specification

  • Commitment to the values, vision and mission of Mary’s Meals
  • Confidence to represent Mary’s Meals externally
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to influence across the organisation and externally
  • Experience of working with a wide range of media
  • Experience of editing and producing publications
