The unique roll of Volunteer Befriender adds an important extra dimension to the lives of the people we support by extending and enhancing their individual circle of support and broadening the opportunities and experiences available to them. All Volunteers will be given induction training to the organisation including our policies and any mandatory training requirement plus a named contact person and monthly meetings to discuss support needs options for training.A review is held after 6 months. Volunteers will have access to our core training programme.

Skills and interests required:

This particular opportunity requires an outgoing personality and the confidence to support someone who is elderly but very able in and around the local community. Patience coupled with understanding and an interest in activities including walking, watching TV and football will make you suitable for this opportunity.  An Ayr United Fan who would accompany the person being supported to Saturday home games and mid week games is the ideal person.

Travel expenses and reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed

Minimum age 18 years

Requirements:

Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons and evenings, weekly
