Our Physical Disabilities Service in Uphall is housed in a new purpose built facility incorporating state of the art design and technology. We aim to provide round the clock care and support to 4 individuals with physical and complex disabilities, with further capacity for day care for 2 individuals and respite for a further 2 individuals.
The volunteer will provide assistance in the delivery of personal, social and recreational activities e.g. jigsaws, baking, skittles, reading magazines and going for walks.The volunteer will also provide support to individuals to carry out light household duties e.g. dusting, emptying dishwasher, doing laundry.
Skills and abilities:
Patience and understanding are requirements for this opportunity paired with a genuine desire to make a difference.
The service is scheduled to open in late August/September 2010
2-6 hours a week with a minimum commitment of 6 months, days and times will be arranged to suit all involved.
Travel expenses and reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Volunteers will be given and induction to the organisation and our policies, monthly meetings for three months to discuss options for training. Review is held after 6 months. Volunteers will have access to our core training programme.
