South Lanarkshire Council is an ambitious, high performing organisation with a clear shared vision by both members and officers to improve the quality of life for everyone in South Lanarkshire.

As the Executive Director of Housing and Technical Resources you must be able to demonstrate your ability to lead and direct multi-functional teams. This remit is broad and diverse and covers housing management, property services, finance and support functions and estates. Key to this role is the ability to lead strategic change, drive forward and implement efficient service delivery which exceeds customer standards. The post holder will also be a member of the Corporate Management Team and will strategically manage and drive forward service improvements and financial savings within a Resource of over approximately 2000 employees, manage a capital and revenue budget of £450 million and deliver a diverse range of services including:

  • delivery of multi-million pound projects covering construction, repair and maintenance of schools, offices, houses and other public sector buildings
  • property advice, maintenance, design and improvement services
  • comprehensive housing management for over 25,000 homes
  • management of the Council’s property lease portfolio, acquisition and disposal of property and land.
  • neighbourhood regeneration
  • homelessness service
  • the provision of anti-social investigation, community warden and mediation services
  • collection of housing rents, Council tax and other Council income
  • the provision of housing and other welfare benefits advice

Suitable candidates for this challenging role will posses a strong customer focus on delivering customer service needs aligned to the business within relevant legislative parameters.

Crucial to your success will be your ability to build trust and confidence. You will display a high level of personal credibility aligned with excellent communication skills which allows you to work productively with elected members, employees and external partners.
