Job Description

Based at the Montrose Road Centre, Forfar, working 18.5 hours per week (working days to be negotiated) term-time only (195 days), you will provide support to teachers and pupils in relation to children with additional support needs including hearing difficulties. You will assist in a range of duties including preparing classroom resources and activities and supervising and assisting children during non-teaching time. This job is temporary until 29 March 2013 in the first instance.

Requirements

You must have good oral and written communication skills, a flexible approach to work and be able to work as part of a team and also work unsupervised. You will demonstrate an inclusive attitude to children with varying abilities and also have empathy and commitment to children with additional support needs and an awareness of confidentiality. Experience of working with children with additional support needs including hearing difficulties is desirable as is experience of assisting children with clothing, toileting and personal care and knowledge of child development. A First Aid qualification and moving and handling training are desirable. A willingness to undertake training to work towards PDA support for learning is also desirable. A full, current driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential. You must have the ability to become a member of the PVG Scheme.
