Job Description

Based at Muirfield Primary School you will work closely with the head teacher to oversee and contribute to planning and implementing the curricular programme. You will support the early years practitioners to plan, assess and record information on individual's progress in accordance with relevant policies. You will be expected to liaise with the education development officer (pre-school) and the head teacher to ensure educational experiences are provided and that care needs are met.

You will work 18.125 hours per week,Monday to Friday mornings, term-time only (195 days per annum). You will be given appropriate time for preparation, planning and collegiate activities including CPD, staff meetings and formal planning. This job is temporary until 29 March 2013.



Requirements

You will have a PDA in Childcare and Education (SVQ4) or SVQ Level 4 in Early Years Care and Education (with management strand) or be willing to undertake and complete successfully either qualification. You will also have an HNC in Childcare and Education, or equivalent, and relevant experience of working in early years service provision.

Your knowledge of early childhood development and learning and teaching strategies will be strong and you will have excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills and be ICT literate. Knowledge of early years quality assurance systems and formal inspection processes are essential as is the ability to provide support and guide and promote good practice within a team of professional practitioners. Experience of planning and implementing 'Curriculum for Excellence' is essential as is the ability to participate in a team with other professionals and display leadership qualities. You must have knowledge of CSP and IEP processes and practices and an enthusiasm for working with young children. You will be creative, motivated and a self-starter who has a positive attitude towards children's development and a willingness to embrace initiatives and change. SSSC registration or the ability to apply for this on appointment is essential. An ASN qualification is also desirable as is knowledge and experience of working with ASN children.

You must have the ability to become a member of the PVG scheme.
