Based at John Muir House, Haddington Salary £27,921-£31,498 per annum (£15.30-£17.26 per hour) Closing date 19 February 2012 It is East Lothian Council's policy that successful applicants will be appointed to the first point on the salary scale. Hours of work 35 hours per week Monday-Friday Interviews will be held on Thursday 1 March (and Friday 2 March if required). The post is based within the Enviroment Department's Policy and Projects Team in Haddington. The team has responsibilities which include development planning, land use planning policy advice, built heritage, regeneration, enviromental improvement and landscape advice.




Job Details
Purpose of the Job To assist the Policy and Projects Manager to deliver a high quality land use planning policy service, complying with internal and external performance indicators and objectives, including those for customer care. Major Tasks
• Development plan preparation, monitoring and review, focussing on all aspects of the local development plan but with some involvement in strategic development plan work
• Land use planning policy advice to internal and external customers
• Preparing screening and scoping opinions under the Environmental Impact Assessment (Scotland) Regulations 1999
• Preparing written submissions and giving oral evidence at hearings and public inquiries
• Preparing development frameworks, development briefs and/or design guidelines
• Undertaking conservation area appraisals
• Preparing datasets such as the Housing Land Audit, employment land availability and town centre surveys • Providing a planning policy input into other Council strategies, such as the Local Housing Strategy and the Environment Strategy





Job Requirements
