Job Purpose

To work as a member of an Educational Psychology Service (EPS) team in delivering effective psychology services to children and families, establishments and the local authority. To lead an specified significant remits linked to EPS and wider local authority priorities. All work will be undertaken in line with local authority and EPS policies and procedures and with national legislation. This work will also be undertaken with regard to requirements of the codes of conduct laid out by the British Psychological Society and Health Professions Council.

Major Tasks & Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Principal Educational Psychologist:
  1. to contribute to the assessment of barriers to learning experience by children and young people and to the development of effective interventions
  2. by utilising a collaborative approach, provide consultation and advice for all service users including children and young people, parents, educational establishments, other agencies, and the education authority
  3. to liaise with other professional agencies including Social Work, Health, Children's Reporter, and the Voluntary Sector to ensure effective co-ordination of educational psychology services with the work of these agencies
  4. to support the development of children, young people and their families and those working with them
  5. to carry out research and evaluation projects in a range of contexts which contribute to positive change for children and young people
  6. to support the professional development of colleagues working in schools and across a range of agencies
  7. to have a central role in service development tasks and the continuous improvement of the EPS
  8. to contribute to strategic and policy development within Moray EPS and Moray Council
  9. Supporting the professional development of EPS team members
  10. to lead on specific initiatives and developments - linked to EPS and local authority priorities
