We pride ourselves in providing excellent sport and leisure facilities for the local communities and visitors to East Lothian. A part-time opportunity has arisen at North Berwick Sports Centre, where safety, customer care and cleanliness are high priorities. We require an individual who will make a positive contribution to our team, enjoys dealing with the public and would like the opportunity to work in a leisure environment.
As a Part-time Leisure Assistant you will be required to undertake lifeguard duties, assist with the general supervision of dryside activities and take on coaching, cleaning and occasional reception/clerical work. You will have a pleasant, helpful and approachable manner and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of good customer care.
The minimum qualification you should have is a current National Pool Lifeguard qualification. You will preferably possess an ASA Assistant Swim Teachers Certificate and/or other relevant coaching qualifications.
Hours of work will be up to 20 per week and may include evening and weekend work.One post is a permanent position, and one post is a temporary contract for a 6 month period with the possibility of extension.
It is anticipated that interview, which will include a pool water skills test, will be held week commencing 27th February 2012.
Job Details Purpose of the Job To support the Service Manager and Senior Leisure Assistant in maintaining a high standard of organisation and operation
To supervise the use of the facilities to maintain high levels of safety, cleanliness and customer satisfaction.
Major Tasks 1. To maintain effective control and supervision of all customers within public areas of the building and its surrounds.
2. To carry out lifeguard duties, undertake rescues and administer remedial treatment as may be required, and to maintain the appropriate standard of qualification.
3. To supervise the use of the Centre, to maintain the standard of facilities and equipment as required by the Service Manager to meet requirements of Health and Safety.
4. To carry out cleaning duties in order to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene at all times.
5. To undertake instruction and coaching in activities.
6. To set out and clear away equipment and furniture.
7. To assist with the organisation of events and promotion of the Centre.
8. To actively promote the friendly, welcoming, caring image of the Centre in assisting members of the public.
9. On an occasional basis to relieve reception and cafeteria staff.
10. Such other reasonable duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required by the General Manager or his representative from time to time.
Job Requirements Relevant Qualifications RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
SVQ Level II: Facility Operations or equivalent
ASA Assistant/Full Swim Teachers qualification
Appropriate Coaching qualifications
ISRM Pool Plant Certificate
Emergency/Full First Aid qualification
