>> You have a DipSW or equivalent professional Social Work qualification, with relevant post qualifying experience in a Child Care setting and are registered with the SSSC. As well as operational experience and substantial knowledge of children’s legislation you are committed to improving outcomes for Looked After and/or Registered children in the context of GIRFEC and Child Protection and Corporate Parenting responsibilities. You also possess first class chairing skills and can evidence a success in promoting multi agency working through a range of influencing skills. Risk assessment and management is your forte and you can produce high quality written reports. Ability to travel is essential.

>> You will be required to chair a range of fora, including Child Protection Case Conferences and LAC Reviews and assist Aberdeenshire Council and its partners to achieve its objective of streamlining its child centred planning processes.

>> This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An offer of employment by Aberdeenshire Council will be subject to the outcome of this check being satisfactory. The preferred candidate will also be required to provide an Overseas Criminal Records Check from other countries as deemed necessary. Job Purpose

>> To effectively chair Child Protection Case Conferences, Looked After Reviews and related fora in accordance with statutory, policy and procedural responsibilities and ensure that the action plans/ outcomes of these fora are focused on the wellbeing of children.

>> To contribute to the quality assurance and continuous improvement of the above processes and take lead responsibility for the development of specific areas of professional practice as agreed with your line manager.


Main Tasks

• Co-ordinating, Chairing and Reviewing of Statutory Child Protection Case Conferences
• Co-ordinating, Chairing and Reviewing of Statutory Looked After Child Reviews
• Quality Assurance of inputs and outcomes of these processes
• Leadership in designated areas of professional practice
• Multi-Agency working; corporate and representational duties
